A Day in the Life

Stories of two growing children mixed with ramblings from the ether of my mind.

My Lil Princess

Jordan has been a pretty good girl this week.  We have had some issues with her over the past couple of months, normally behavior problems, but we seem to be making progress in that area and she is behaving much more regularly.  She didn't spend all that much time in time out this week.  maybe only a couple of times where as she has been spending a little time each afternoon.  I makes me proud to see her helping out like a big girl and being on her best behavior in public.  She is capable of being such a smart and sweet little girl.  She is getting much better at counting and abstract thinking in general.  We are trying to play little thinking games with her to get her more in the mindset of problem determination.

The Monkey man is still fighting his ear infection, in fact he is at the doctor right now checking to see if it has flaired back up.   We have a feeling that he is having a relapse after being cranky for the last 24 hours and holding his ear a lot.  Hopefully they will give him some more medicine that will completely knock this thing out.

Hope everyone has a good week!

Well at last, Well at last, Thank God Almighty..... We're Well at last!

The title pretty much sums it up, but we are all well now.  We have instituted some new policies around the house as well as becoming extreme users of hand sanitizer.  Jordan is now getting use to not putting her hands in her mouth.  Unfortunately that is a security blanket thing for her.  When she gets upset, she puts her hands in her mouth.  I am sure that she will get use to it eventually but like most things it will take a while to break.  Not sure what to do about the monkey man, he is too young to understand, I guess that is where the hand sanitizer is going to have to come in.  Though that doesn't always help when he suddenly jams a hand in your mouth..... next mouthwash policy!  Hope everyone had a good weekend and has a good work week! :)

Mutating Virus?

I am convinced now, that Jordan and Justice come home, spit in their hands, high five to rub it together, then go touch everything in the house so that both of their ailments mutate into some sort of super virus that attacks Melissa and I.

Breaking the Cycle

I was down again this weekend with an ailment.  This is getting to the point of being insane.  Jordan gets sick, a few days later I (or Melissa) gets sick, a few days later the other (melissa or I whichever was well) get sick, a few more days, Justice gets sick, then melissa and I again...... it goes on and on.  They both bring something different home every week and it is starting to really grind on us.  I was down last weekend (7th) with sinus's and cold.  Justice came home with something last Tuesday.  Friday night, I got a sour throat and fever, Jordan started feeling bad on Saturday night..... Sunday Morning Melissa woke with Sour Throat and Fever.  I guess the thing that pisses me off the most is that if the kids get sick at school then they have to come home.  I understand if this actually helped keep other kids from getting sick but it doesn't so it is a waste of time and money because they get paid whether your kid is there or not.  /rant.   Hope everyone has a decent sickness free week ;)

Why are we waiting?

clock March 12, 2009 03:37 by author sdmiller
I know in my own mind, and pretty sure in most peoples mind as well, I have a clocks that is ticking toward different events.  Once the event occurs it is usually subpar to the anticipation of said event so it makes me wonder as to why.  It also seems like If I don't have any reachable events on the horizon, I feel like I am stuck in a lull.  For instance, an event can be graduation or maybe a promotion.... pretty much any type of carrot that you have been working for or eagerly anticpating.  I guess this is they brains way of staying motivated or working toward a goal of somesort.  It could also be that I am a goal oriented person and most of you have no idea what I am talking about.  None the less it is an interesting study trying to dissect why I seem to need this in my life to stave away stagnation of motivation and thinking.  We often get caught in a rut with work and it may be that we have no real goal in our profession other than getting to the next payday.... or in todays climate.... keeping a job.  Food for thought.

The Myth.......The Man......The Monkey

Justice is now starting to speak.  He has learned "All Done"  and likes to say it a lot.  He is also starting to show lots of different complex thought patterns.  He also reponds very well to a lot of different things that you tell him, so he is definitly understanding even though he is slow to communicate back.  Jordan never has problems communicating with him but I am sure they are linked together on a private wave length that we will never fully understand.

Things are moving along, I am still employed and enjoying my work.  My boss, Bryan is a great guy and I have enjoyed learning/working for him.  Melissa is still slugging it out with her job.  Hopefully I can turn my job into a stable position in the future so that she has the opportunity to do what she enjoys for a living.
