A Day in the Life

Stories of two growing children mixed with ramblings from the ether of my mind.

Being an Adult Sucks!

Growing up means increase freedom but also increased responsibility.  Also you have to make decisions big and small.  I had to make a decision recently that has torn me up emotionally and still continues to nag at me.  I have taken a full time job with a new company that is in stage3 startup mode which could bring lots of good things.  The decision was made for stability and less risk for the family.  Melissa has shouldered the load of being the stable income since we graduated college.  It has allowed me the luxary of working jobs with high risk high reward situations.  I have absolutely loved working with Bryan for the last 5 months.  He is an awesome boss/friend that has taught me the wasy of programming at a pretty accelerated pace.  I make good money and have great freedom working from home.  The risk involved is that when your a contractor... it is feast or famine.  With the prospect of IBM tossing Melissa aside because they are financial morons, I have to grow up and make the tough decision.

On Monday, I will be starting a new job with eTeleNext, Inc., a biopharmaceutical laboratory information management system software company.  The are doing extremely well and growing at a break neck pace right now.  The opportunity would have been perfect 5 months ago, but after working with Blu Solutions for the past 5 months, my definition of perfect has changed.  I really like the contractor life style.  I am keeping an open mind, because everyone I talked to at eTeleNext was awesome, from the hiring project manager to the president and CTO.  I hope that I can live up to their expectations.

I will continue to work with Bryan part time helping him out with little things here and there as much as I can.  If things don't work out or Bryan creates a more stable situation in the future, he has graciously left the door open for us to work together again.  Like I said, he is a great guy!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Both kids, Melissa and I well!?

For the first time in a long time....  We are all well.  Hopefully immune systems are built up so we don't repeat this string of illness in the fall.  When Jordan first entered daycare, it took about 6 months of sickness before we were all bullet proof, so if past trends prevail, we should be in the clear. Keeping my fingers crossed!

It has been a long week....

This week has been a long one filled with hard work, interviews and lots and lots of soul searching...... and carpet cleaning.  Melissa and I stayed up late last night cleaning the carpets and furniture.  It was something that has been long overdue, but not the most exciting thing we could do on a Friday night.  Though since having kids, Friday nights are not a fun filled venture anyway.

The kids seem to be well this week, Jordan hasn't been sick in a while and Justice is good to go save for a mild sinus infection that is almost cleared up.  I am still draining, and hacking from my previous ailment.  I am hoping that since Justice has been virus free lately (though pneumonia and sinus infections suck), that it bodes well for me staying well for a little while.  Justice is starting to show his affinity for music lately.  He and Jordan share that love.  Just like Jordan, if Justice is fussy put on some music and it is all good.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

So Close, yet so freaking far

Since my career change, I spend a whole lot of my pathetic life on this laptop.  My head burried in visual studio hammering out code.  You would think that I could take a little time out to update this blog.  By recent evidence, you would be wrong.  Only a few weeks left until I deliver this website, we actually are going to soft deliver this thing on Friday.  Anywho...

You know it is pretty sad when your daughter has a busier social calendar than you do.  Jordan has been booked up with birthday parties for the last few weekends, so much she was double booked this past Saturday, and had a party on Sunday as well.  Not too much longer and she will have her princess party, which she reminds us everyday.  The economy hasn't really effected birthday parties in this area yet, the parents seem to be putting on a good spread.  I am sure Jordan will have fun at her princess party, we are renting out a playground shelter at the morrisville park so the kids can play.  Justice will also get some play out of this as well.  So far, he hasn't been invited to any parties, and is forced to hang out with me.  I don't mind, hopefully he doesn't too much.  However, he is not much of a conversationalist yet, He is going to be a late talker...... with Jordan always about, I am not sure that is a bad thing.
