So the State Fair is in town and we ventured out with the kids to it this weekend. Your typical kind of crazy. We like to go in the morning and spend a few hours. Somehow it took longer than normal this year and it was getting crazy busy by the time we were leaving. NOT my idea of fun busy. I guess the nice weather helped with turnout. It also meant that people were doing stupid things in trying to park, but that's a whole different story.
So every year we have taken the kids to the fair (and obviously she's been more than he has) the kids want to see the ponies, but never want to ride them. This year she decided she wanted to ride a pony. So since we've been saying she could for a couple of years now we let her give it a go. And evidently she was quite the charmer about it too as she managed to get a straw cowboy hat for free. And she had a blast on the pony.

Yes, that is our girl on a pony in a tutu skirt. :)

Which did seem to mean that she slid to the one side. But she managed to hold on tight!

Oh, and her pony's name was Mikey. She was very thankful that he let her ride him. Our son on the other hand was quite happy to watch her ride the pony. :)
They both enjoyed the farmyard area visiting with the animals.

He so sweetly enjoyed making the sounds of each and every animal.

Then it was time for some food and rides. She was so excited!! He was much more unsure of the rides. So again he was content to watch her.

Then there was a new ride that she just had to try - kind of like flying like a super hero!

She was loving the rides, but not the lines so much. But she was quick to make friends in the line to help pass the time.

When he saw the monster trucks he decided to get in on the action. A truck with big tires and everyone gets a steering wheel. It was love at first sight for him (even if she did talk her way into a pink monster truck)!

Then off to the balloons. He was loved it when it was on the ground and they were spinning it around and around.

However, once the balloons started and went up in the air, he decided that this was not exactly his idea of a good ride. But alas, he had to tough it out. Let's just say he was not willing to get back on the ride.

He decided that vehicles that stayed on the ground were much more his style.

And then she got adventurous and went on a ride new to her. One that her Mommy would not be able to handle. Can you tell she was excited about it?

Just a tad. :) You can see her here almost dead center - the one with the short legs.

She had such a good time that the moment she stepped of the ride she wanted to go again. Since she had one more ride before we left, we said yes. However, when she ran back into the line to go again the attendant measured her and decided she wasn't tall enough. So even though she just rode the ride, she was denied a second go at it. So instead she went back to the balloons (without her brother this time). And this time her partner was a little girl that loved spinning as much as she does. Let's just say by the time the ride started going up and down I'd have been sick, but they just kept going (and going...)

So after all the ride fun it was time to head out. He fell asleep in the stroller on the way back to the car. Unfortunately that meant he wasn't as keen on a nap once we got home. However, everyone needed a little rest after all the fun once we got home. And then a little over an hour later our daughter had a birthday party, so the girls were on the go again. (More on that in a later post.)
