So we all know that kids can say the darndest things.  And I for one am learning that with my two you have to listen closely when they say something.  Sometimes if you don't listen very closely you will not ever understand them.  At least not completely.

Take this little girl.

Last week we were having a conversation on electricity.  Or at least I thought we were.  She was talking about how it gives us lights and I was trying to explain that it is so much more.  Yet she focused only on lights.  I was having trouble understanding the problem in why she couldn't grasp that electricity gives us more than lights.  And then I listened.  Truely listened.  You see she wasn't saying electricity.  She was saying e-light-tricity.  And so it became crystal clear to me why she was stuck that it was just lights.  :-)

And this little boy.

I was in the car with the kids on the way to the house after work.  We were discussing what was going to happen that evening.  And I mentioned doing something after Mommy and Daddy exercised.  And then it appeared to me that out of left field he was talking about applesauce.  Or at least a strange version of applesauce.  I did not get it.  And he was getting irritated with me about it.  Then his big sister helped him out and explained to me that he wanted to excercise too.  Say what?  Oh, he wanted to apple-size with us.  Apparently I'm not great with the pronunciation of exercise.  Or maybe he just prefers apple-size as he does like apples.  :-)

Oh, and just try and tell this little boy that Snow White has dwarfs, not Heigh-ho's.  You see ever since he saw the movie and heard them sing "Heigh Ho!, Heigh Ho!, It's off to work we go!"  He is certain that they are Heigh-ho's.  And boy did he get so confused with me when the other night he had Doc the Dwarf and I said "oh, is that Doc you have?"  He got a strange look on his face and left the room.  Turns out he went to get Doc (from the movie Cars) to show me.  Then he very purposely held up Doc and said "Doc" and then the dwarf and declared "Heigh-ho."  Sigh.  I guess for now there is no convincing him that one of Snow White's dwarfs is named Doc.  But I give him points in how he got his point across.  It was very clear to me.  :-)
